Our 5 tips for cycling peacefully in the rain

1. Protect your battery from moisture

Who says resistant does not necessarily mean waterproof The battery is the heart of your e-bike. Even if it's protected, water—and especially prolonged infiltration—can reduce its lifespan.

💡 Our advice:

  • Use a protective cover or of the waterproof film if the rain is heavy, a waterproof saddle cover and caps for the connectors;

  • If you leave your bike outside, remove the battery only . PS: never park your bike in prolonged rain;

  • Dry always the connectors after use;

  • Recharge your battery once dried , and not when it is still wet.

2. Your safety, our peace of mind... Adapt your driving on wet ground

Driving in the rain is like driving a car: risk of aquaplaning, reduced visibility, less effective brakes...

💡 Our advice:

  • Reduce slightly your speed to anticipate braking and obstacles;

  • Beware of slippery surfaces : metal plates, paving stones, tram rails, white lines, etc.;

  • Use a helmet with visor to increase your visibility;

  • Keep a longer braking distance than usual.

Unikride bikes provide greater safety thanks to their wide tires that improve grip on wet surfaces 🚲

3.  Afraid of getting wet? Bring the necessary equipment!

Arriving at work soaked, we grant you, is off-putting... But like a pedestrian with an umbrella, you'll have something to protect yourself on your e-bike!

  • Waterproof cape : a must-have for staying dry!

  • Equip yourself with a waterproof bag or of a bag cover ;

  • If you are really manic: overshoes and gloves 😉

4.  Be visible despite the rain

As you know, rain reduces visibility, whether for drivers, cyclists, or pedestrians. Equip yourself with the right accessories to stay clearly visible.

💡 Our advice:

  • Check that your front lights And back work properly;

  • Preferably wear light-colored clothes and/or paste reflective strips on your bike;

  • A overpants and one waterproof jacket (or a rain poncho), ideally combined with a fluorescent vest, will keep you dry and visible.

5. Post-rain, an element not to be neglected!

Water, dirt, and road debris can quickly build up and damage your bike, as well as make your ride less stable.

💡 Our advice:

  • Wipe the frame and the electrical components after each outing;

  • Clean the chain and lubricate it regularly to prevent rust;

  • Dry thoroughly the battery connectors with a clean cloth.
